As we move into the next decade, we anticipate a transformative shift where outdated, centralized systems will be increasingly overtaken by scalable, decentralized networks.
Stateless Money
Stateless currencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum come with hardcoded monetary policies that are transparent and impervious to political whims, offering a predictable inflation and supply model that establishes these assets as reliable stores of value. Furthermore, Ethereum takes it a step further by offering internet-native yield through its staking mechanism, thereby creating an unprecedented avenue for financial returns that operate independently of traditional financial markets.
Borderless Settlement
Layers 0/1/2 are engineering solutions that create open, fast, and global settlement networks. They remove the traditional bottlenecks associated with cross-border transactions. These networks provide scalable architectures, employing various methods like monolithic structures, rollups, or sovereign app chains. Each method presents its own trade-offs between scalability, security, and decentralization, providing frameworks for different use-cases.
Permissionless Finance
Permissionless financial platforms like decentralized exchanges and money markets are eliminating the need for "trusted" intermediaries, making transactions more efficient and transparent. These platforms enable open and permissionless value flow across borders, breaking down geographical barriers and making financial markets globally accessible to more capital.
